I was thrilled when I transformed ten empty matchboxes into a beautiful miniature chest using decorative paper, beads, cardboard, ink and glue. I felt like a makeover artist. (see my post, DIY: Beautiful miniature chest made from matchboxes tutorial)

I had a lot of fun sharing with you how to make a fab kabuki makeup brush case in my last tutorial. Now, let’s have more fun creating another with rhinestones and up the oomph factor!

There are so many possibilities when it comes to choosing materials to decorate your brush case. Flat back rhinestones, crystals, charms, beads, buttons, sequins and faux gems make great embellishments. Whichever you choose, make sure they are waterproof. You will need to clean your brush case sometimes and you don’t want to damage your work of art.

In this tutorial, I used black flat back rhinestones which I’m particularly fond of. They are pretty and add a touch of understated glam to my new kabuki brush case. Continue reading
